Powder Mountain was always the one locals kept quiet about: enormous terrain, reliable snow, no lines. In 2023 the Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings bought it and made that scarcity the point — a private side, Powder Haven, where some twenty-seven hundred acres and their own lifts are reserved for homeowners, with membership capped at six hundred and fifty families. The public mountain stays small on purpose.
Ownership is its own world: ski-in, ski-out homesites with architecture by the likes of Walker Warner and CLB, custom lots that sold before the roads were paved, and a members' lodge on the way. Below sits Ogden Valley — Eden, Huntsville, Pineview Reservoir, and Snowbasin next door, where the Olympics ran the downhill in 2002 and will again in 2034. Ninety minutes from the airport, which is rather the point. The mountain for buyers who would take the space over the scene.
